Police Officer Engages a Fleeing Vehicle
9:05 PM, Saturday - A police officer attempts to pull over a speeding vehicle on the highway. Rather than pulling over for the officer, the vehicle increases its speed in an attempt to flee from the officer.
The officer follows agency protocol and engages in a pursuit of the fleeing vehicle, activating the PursuitAlert warning system in his vehicle with the simple flip of a switch.
Civilians Notified
Two miles down the road on the highway Sarah is a civilian driving home from a friend's house. She has the PursuitAlert mobile app installed on her phone. Her phone receives an audible and visual push notification "Warning! High-speed pursuit in progress. Use Caution!"
Now, armed with information that could save her life, she checks her mirrors and, although she doesn't see or hear lights and sirens yet, she decides to pull over to the shoulder of the highway as a precaution.
Pursuit Underway
Sarah is safe in her car on the shoulder of the road.
The fleeing vehicle whizzes by Sarah at over 100 mph, followed by the police cruiser with lights and siren.
All Clear
Once Sarah is outside the alert radius she receives another audible and visual push notification on her mobile phone: "Emergency response out of range, proceed with caution."
Sarah is safe to continue her drive home.
